Poultry Grower Webinar Series: Biosecurity, your poultry’s defense against avian flu

The outbreaks of avian influenza virus that swept through the upper Midwestern U.S. in 2015 and Indiana in 2016 pointed out deficiencies in biosecurity plans for many poultry farms. The outbreaks are over, for now, but experts suspect that avian flu virus is still present in U.S. wild bird populations. Migratory birds will be on the move again this fall and this means that U.S. poultry growers need to have tighter biosecurity procedures in place to try and keep the virus out of their flocks.
